Seriously, why do most people fail to achieve the goals they set?
It’s not just you. Everyone struggles to achieve their goals at some point in their life.
Believe it or not one of the biggest reasons can be summed up in one word, impatience.
Sure setting goals, is a major step in the right direction. But how do you keep the ball rolling until you have reached your destination?
Well, in this guide you will find 5 steps to achieving your goals, but with a twist.
The Challenge Begins Once Your Seed is Planted
Look, you can’t simply plant a seed and ignore it. Sure some varieties of plants, like certain ideas may grow on their own.
However most goals need constant care.
And just like a seed that has just begun to germinate, the most important challenges to achieving your goal, are in the beginning stages.
Once you have established your goal, you can begin to take a step back and watch it grow on its own.
So how do you keep your goals in focus until they take on a life of their own?
Let’s dive into step number one!
Step One to Achieving Your Goals: Set Motivational Reminders
We talk a lot about ways to reach your goals on Flowwords.
One huge way to help you reach those larger goals you have set for yourself is to have constant motivation. Or at least motivation enough to keep you moving forward.
This can be done by envisioning yourself once you have achieved your goals. But many folks find that looking to others can be motivational too.
For example Ray Kroc who started McDonalds has a lot to share about being in business. I for one find his business tips to be outstanding motivation.
In one quote he is giving advice to individuals looking to start doing better and achieve their goals. To this he says…
“When you’re green, your growing. When you’re ripe, you rot.”
Step Two to Achieving Your Goals: Enjoy The Struggle
Goal setting and follow through, whether you are starting an at-home business, or simply trying to save up for a new boat. Is a struggle, at least most of the time.
It is truly no secret for any individual that has tried to set and reach their own goals. There is often more bitter than sweet, at least until the goal is achieved.
That is why it is important to enjoy the struggle, enjoy the process it takes to achieve your goals. By setting and striving for your goals, you are becoming stronger, and more resilient.
Best of all you will be better equipped in the future to set larger goals and met them.
Unripe fruit is often bitter, but once it has grown to maturity, nothing is sweeter.
Step Three to Achieving Your Goals: Observe the Process
Along the way it is absolutely crucial that you take a step back from time to time and observe.
Step one to achieving your goals or setting motivational reminders was for your heart. But this step is a crucial part of your mental process.
More importantly being observant grounds your ideas and roots them into reality.
The process of taking a step back and evaluating your process is a crucial part or reaching those goals. Most importantly it may expose a flaw in your previous thinking that you need to address before a problem arises.
Step Four to Achieving Your Goals: Manage your Morale
Although step one is a huge part of this step, managing your morale requires multiple approaches. Whether your goal is to run an at home business or drive traffic to your website.
You can manage your morale in a variety of ways while reaching for your goals.
Here are just a few:
- Set milestones or break your goal into smaller parts
- Speak with those that have done what you are trying to do
- Read and inform yourself about the goal you have in mind
- Manage stress, and embrace the process
Look, goals aren’t easy to achieve. In my experience, I often want nothing to do with yesterday’s plans when I wake up. But I have to find a way to pick myself up and get moving forward.
You can do that too, we are all in this together!
It’s especially hard when you can’t see just how far you have gone, and the end seems nowhere in sight. But hold on tight and now that this is the hardest part!
Step Five to Achieving Your Goals: Failure Paves the Road To Success
If you fail your goals, the most important thing is to not give up.
One of my favorite passages in the Bible is this one:
“16 for the righteous falls seven times and rises again,
but the wicked stumble in times of calamity.”
+Proverbs 24:16
Rise back up on that horse, pick up the pieces and keep moving onward!
Life is a long process, but you are always one step further toward on the path of your goals so long as you get back up!
What is the Fruit of the Matter?
Much like planting seeds in a garden, your goals have the potential to be a life of their own.
However you need to tend to them properly to get them to the point where they grow on their own.
How do you care for something with no instruction manual? Well finding out is part of the process!
