Have you ever considered the similarities between the Promised Land in Israel and America?
When the people of Israel moved into their promised land, it was Under God. When they were in God’s will, they had amazing victories and His holy protection. Every time the turned from God, bad things happened.
When the Puritans came to America, there was a promise that they would be free to worship without government interference. Thomas Jefferson said there should be separation of church and state meaning the state shouldn’t have authority over churches, never intending for the church to be taken out of the state. A government that isn’t under God becomes a beast and the forefathers of America knew this.
America was founded UNDER GOD. When there was conflict writing our constitution, Congress went to church and prayed. Our history books used to tell of how George Washington had God’s protection when the best of the Indian warriors shooters all aimed for him, but couldn’t kill him. Their chief later told George that they realized he was under divine protection.
Since America’s story is so similar to Israel’s story, and every time the Israelites turned from God, they were scattered or occupied, is it worth considering that this Country, America, should turn back to God before this happens to us? As the saying goes, “If we fail to learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it.”
